BIDDING | | Takes place immediately after the deal but before the first round is played. Each player makes a bid by verbally indicating how many tricks they think their team can take.

CLONE SUIT | | The suit of the same color as trump. For example, if trump is then the clone suit is . The clone suit is capable of freezing a round to prevent the trick from immediately being taken.

FREEZE | | The process of playing a clone suit card that has the same face value as the highest ranking card. When a round is frozen no one gets to take the trick and another round must be played to determine who wins the trick.

HAND | | A hand starts at the beginning of the deal and ends after all 13 cards have been played and the tricks are counted.

HIGH BIDDER | | The final, unchallenged bidder after the other 3 players have passed. His team must take the number of tricks that he bid in order to score points; otherwise, the other team will score points.

JACK THE RIPPER | | The Jack of the clone suit. When it is played it causes the player who played the highest ranking card to give up the trick to the opposing team.

ROUND | | When all 4 players have played a single card

SET | | To prevent the high bidder and his teammate from taking the number of tricks that he bid. The team that sets the high bidder's team is then awarded the appropriate points (see "SCORING" at the top of this page.)

TRICK | | When all players at the table have played a card this is called a trick. The player who played the highest ranking card gets to take the trick (i.e. he takes all four cards and sets them aside for himself).

TRUMP | | The suit, chosen by the high bidder, in which any card of that suit is higher in rank than all the cards of every other suit.
