The clone suit is simply the suit of the same color as trump. For example, if trump is then the clone suit is , if trump is then the clone suit is and so on and so forth.

The clone suit is not higher in rank than any other suit and does not have any trumping capabilities.

It is possible to freeze a trick using the clone suit. How? By playing a card from the clone suit that is equal in face value to the highest ranking card on the table.

When a round is frozen no one can take that trick (yet). The trick is set aside and another trick is played. Whoever eventually takes the next trick will win that one and any and all previous tricks that may have been frozen.

Here's an example of how a trick might be frozen. Let's say that trump is and a player leads with the 7. The next player follows suit with the 9. The next player does not have any but wants to freeze the trick. The clone suit is and he has both the 7 and 9 in his hand. Only the 9 can freeze the hand because the 9 is the highest ranking card played. If he were to play the 7 it would have no effect on game play and the round would continue.

The clone suit can freeze any card so long as it is the highest ranking card played. It does not have to be a trump card in order to be frozen.

For example, let's say that trump is and therefore would be the clone suit. A player leads with the 10. The next player follows with the 8 and the third player plays the 3. The fourth player has some in his hand but cannot beat the 10. He therefore plays the 10 thereby freezing the trick. Those cards are set aside and another trick is required to see who will win.

Note that not any clone suit card can freeze the hand. It must be exactly equal in face value to the highest ranking card played.

The round can only be frozen if the clone suit is played AFTER the card it can freeze. For example, let's say that trump is and therefore the clone suit would be . The first player leads with the 10. The next player has no but plays the 10 in an attempt to take the trick with a trump. Since the 10 (which is the clone suit) was played BEFORE the 10 it has no effect on game play and play continues normally.

When a trick is frozen any players that have yet to play a card must do so. However, they do NOT have to follow suit and can throw out any card they choose.

Cards played in the SAME trick AFTER it has been frozen will have NO effect on game play without exception.

Multiple tricks may be frozen consecutively.

Frozen tricks are claimed by the first person who wins the next trick.

If the final trick is frozen no one gets to take that trick or any other frozen tricks that are waiting to be won and they will not count towards anyone's trick total.
