CONQUEST OF DARKNESS

  Riddles in the wind
Magic in the night
A bard and a sage
Defending precious light

An evil warrior lives
Coveting the dark
Questing to destroy him
Out the two embark

A journey full of hardships
Many evil foes
Hard to travel quickly
Difficult it goes

Soon they reach a castle
The sky is bloodest red
The moat is darkest black
The air reeks of the dead

Battling the guards
They enter the castle gate
The halls are filled with sounds
Of intensifying hate

The magician grabs a torch
Lighting up the way
The bard draws a dagger
The evil ones to slay

Ascending up the stairs
They climb a leaning tower
The rain pours down in sheets
A drenching silver shower

Reaching the upper floor
A magic spell is cast
Fire from the sage
An erupting crimson blast

The warrior returns the blow
With a mighty roar
Impaled on his weapon
The sage falls to the floor

The bard draws forth his dagger
And throws it with all his might
Flying straight and true
It buries into the knight

The knight pulls it free
Smiling an evil grin
It seems the battle's over
It seems the knight will win

The bard backs away
Trapped against a wall
He searches for the door
Leading to the hall

But there's no escape
The dark knight advances
Drawing out their swords
They take battle stances

The weapons clash together
Echoing through the night
The battle between warriors
Of darkness and of light

The bard is soon disarmed
Out the knights' sword lashes
The warrior of light dying
To the ground he crashes

The knight turns away
Sheathing his sword soon after
Echoing through the castle
Can be heard his evil laughter

But the sage does not perish
In death he has not gone
He knows his time is short
He won't see the light of dawn

With his dying breath
With his final word
The magician chants a spell
The conjure cannot be heard

The rain turns into fire
Comets of exploding heat
They pummel the castle tower
Raining down in sheets

The castle is destroyed
Along with the evil knight
Once again triumphant
Darkness gives way to light
