DRAGON'S FIRE

  Upon a mountain valley
Rests a lonely shire
Surrounded by a swamp
And a deep quagmire

The people there are happy
They live their lives in peace
Their never ending joy
Was never thought to cease

But on the mountain top
Rests a deep, dark cave
No one dares approach
Not even the strongest knave

Inside sleeps a dragon
Who one day will awake
And the people then will know
The danger they forsake

And then one morn it happened
The sun declaring dawn
The beast flew to the town
And then it's peace was gone

The dragon's fire struck
Like lightning from the sky
The town went up in flames
And no one heard their cries

And when its flight was done
It simply flew away
But the fear the creature brought
In their hearts would always stay
