DRAGON WARRIOR

  Upon a mountain crest
Near a chasms edge
A dragon with scorching breath
Sits ready on a ledge

Red eyes gleam in fury
A smile splits its maw
Jaws snap in a hurry
It slashes with a claw

But the warrior is too fast
Dodging the fateful blow
The attacks safely pass
Throwing off his foe

With his sword he slashes
Into the dragons flesh
Out the weapon lashes
Cutting through a scaly mesh

Then the creatures roars
In a burst of crimson fire
The warrior it abhors
His death it now desires

The fighter seeks escape
But it burns across his chest
The dragon's mouth agape
It singes his naked breast

Injured he raises his sword
Awaiting the next attack
The monster's tail sweeps forward
Speeding towards his back

Slicing through the air
It connects with the readied weapon
The tail it easily shears
Cutting in one split second

The dragon rears up in pain
Revealing its underside
Power the warrior regains
And in his weapon slides

Back the creature stumbles
Falling off the battle ledge
Loud its final roar did rumble
Slipping off the mountains edge

Disappearing into the night
The duel he has won
Riding off out of sight
The battle is finally done
